Tennessee and Georgia both offer codified workers’ compensation premium discounts for certified Drug-Free Workplace Program employers — Tennessee at 5% (T.C.A. § 50-9-101 et seq.) and Georgia at 7.5% (O.C.G.A. § 34-9-410 et seq.). Requirements include written drug-free workplace policies, pre-placement and post-accident drug testing, written notice to placed workers, and annual certification with the state workers’ comp board.

Because most enterprise staffing clients — Delta, UPS, Volkswagen, FedEx, film studios — require drug-free workplace certification as a placement condition anyway, this credit is essentially free money. Details in our Tennessee guide and Georgia guide.
